Here’s a good question. Have you even seen the size of a mustard seed? It’s offensively small.
I say offensively because before I found out how big a mustard seed was, I would always get sort of confused because on one hand, although I knew that it was small (because how big can a seed really be, right?), I wasn’t sure exactly how small. On the other hand, that line in the Bible about your faith needing to be just the size of a mustard seed obviously implied that you didn’t need much to accomplish a sizable goal.
But when I finally discovered how small mustard seeds are, I was pretty much taken aback at it being damn near microscopic. My first thought was, “So I really only need this much to complete a goal? Nah, son. You’re joking.”
It’s true though. You only need THAT much.
What isn’t implied in that one line, though, is that you need to also have that faith DAILY. Even if you manage to have faith the size of a plum seed (which is obnoxiously large), you need to have that faith on every step of the journey towards your goal.
I can tell you from experience that huge faith is unusually freeing and makes you infectiously jubilant, but if that doesn’t stick with you for more than a couple of days, then you just may come crashing down from that high…
So not only should your faith be at least the size of a mustard seed, you should also keep that little seed of faith in your pocket.
